Algarrobo is situated at an altitude of about 87 meters above sea level and has 6284 inhabitants (2017). The main population center is Algarrobo, a village of Arab architecture located 3.5 kilometers from the coast. Other towns of the municipality are Algarrobo Costa, Mezquitilla and Trayamar.
The urban center comprising two differentiated nuclei of population. The town is of Arab architecture and has winding streets that adapt steeply uphill hill known as Ejido where the whitewashed typical houses are manifested.
Points of Interest Algarrobo
- Church of Santa Ana; XVI Century.
- Ermita de San Sebastián, dating from the seventeenth or eighteenth century. In 1976 it had to be rebuilt in the image of the previous one, due to the danger of collapse that it presented.
- Ermita de Las Angustias, located at the exit of Algarrobo Norte. In spite of not being an architectural jewel, in the municipality it is very dear, and all the brides of the town are going to take their bouquet of flowers there.
- Watchtowers: Laced Tower of Arab origin and Torre Derecha or Torre Nueva, of Christian origin, both in Algarrobo Costa.
