Área Recreativa El Alcázar: a recreational area, located on the banks of the Alcaucín River and situated in the Natural Park Sierras Tejeda, Armijara and Alhama. You can reach this area by passing the small authentic village of Alcaucin in Axaquia Costa del Sol. A good accesible road is going up into the mountains and the place is well sign posted. On your way you will pass the statue of the mountain goat where you can enjoy stunning views over the valley. Following the road will bring you along a small bistro wich a terrace, where inside the fire is lightened in the winter.

At the recreation area are enough parking places, a playground for the kids, a lot of picnic tables and wooden benches and of course barbecues (respect the times that you can make fire!). For some reason there are also a lot of showers. This place is excellent to start a hiking route to the Maroma peak, the highest peak in the province of Malaga with 2,068 meters or just to enjoy a picnic in nature

You need to pass this recreational area also in some of the routes that start somewhere else and that go to this peak. It offers excellent facilities to spend a day in the countryside and enjoy nature. The small waterfalls that are formed form in the first meters of the channel of a stream and the thick vegetation that surrounds it are some of the natural attractions of this coquettish corner.
