The Costa del Sol Occidental is the nummer one tourist destination in the peninsular Spain. The Mediterranean climate, the temperate values and warm temperatures, give this region more than three hundred days of sunshine per year. The regulation of the sea breeze and the protection by the mountain ranges near the coast favor this favorable climate. In this region live 497,266 inhabitants, has a surface of 988 km² and a density of 503.3 inhabitants / km².

From North to South, it starts with Torremolinos, then Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, Estepona and Manilva. They represent the tourism by its beaches, restaurants, hotels, golf courses, ports, theme parks and complementary services, etc. They are of the first international magnitude. In the narrow strip between the mountains and the sea there is a great diversity of landscapes: beaches, cliffs, estuaries, coves and dunes. The rivers are short and seasonal, which causes a few extensive estuaries and valleys not very prone to agriculture.

Next to the coastal villages you will see villages situated in the mountains like Benahavís and Casares, Mijas, Casares municipalities that have managed to combine the purest style of the “white villages” with the landscape of their surroundings, with spectacular panoramas to the Mediterranean.
