The canyon that has been formed by the river “Rio Verde” is a very popular destination for people who love canyoning or hiking.
The canyon is situated in the Natural Park Sierra de la Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama. The park has fast flowing rivers and spectacular waterfalls like the “Los Arboles Pertificados” where the water has petrified old tree trunks, that where stucked when they fell down a waterfall.
The route start close to Olívar. This village has typical Andalusian streets with whitewashed houses with balconies and windows adorned with flowers. Otívar has a number of tourist facilities such as viewpoints, walkways and parks, where you can have the pleasure of watching the Rio Verde Valley and the different subtropical plantations.
